Keeping Calm During the Storms

Monday Inspiration for Electricians

Keeping Calm During the Storms

Storms come in many forms. Sometimes they’re real—wind, rain, pressure to restore power fast. Other times they’re unseen—tight deadlines, customer tension, financial strain, inspections, or mistakes that feel heavier than they should. For a tradesman, staying calm in the middle of all that is not easy. But it is powerful.

The Bible reminds us that calmness under pressure isn’t just a personality trait—it’s fruit.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
Galatians 5:22–23

Storms Reveal What’s Growing Inside

Anyone can be calm when everything is going right. But storms reveal what’s truly growing in us. When frustration rises, when things go wrong on site, when a test fails or a job doesn’t go as planned—your response tells a story.

Peace doesn’t mean the storm disappears.
Peace means the storm doesn’t control you.

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.”
Isaiah 26:3

Why Calm Matters in Our Trade

As electricians, our work is serious. Lives depend on correct decisions, clear thinking, and steady hands. Panic leads to shortcuts. Anger leads to mistakes. Calm leads to wisdom.

“The one who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and the one who rules his spirit than the one who captures a city.”
Proverbs 16:32

Staying calm under pressure is strength—not weakness. It shows maturity, discipline, and trust in God.

Jesus Spoke to Storms

When the disciples panicked in the boat, Jesus didn’t panic with them. He spoke peace into the storm.

“He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.”
Mark 4:39

Sometimes we need to speak those same words—Quiet. Be still.
To our thoughts.
To our reactions.
To our fear.

Calm Is a Choice We Practice

Calm doesn’t always come naturally—especially when hands are dirty, backs are tired, and pressure is real. But the Spirit helps us choose differently.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
Psalm 46:1

Before reacting, pause.
Before speaking, breathe.
Before rushing, pray—even if it’s just one sentence.

This Week’s Challenge

This week, when the storm hits—on site, at home, or in your mind—choose calm. Let your response reflect the fruit growing inside you. Not because it’s easy, but because it’s who you’re becoming.

“Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.”
Philippians 4:5

Stay steady. Stay faithful. Stay calm.
You’re not just wiring buildings—you’re shaping character.
